FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - Quarterly Sinkhole Monitoring Update December 2024
Over the past six months, the City of Daisetta has continued its proactive efforts to monitor and address developments related to the sinkhole. Mayor Chancie Bailey and the City Council have remained actively involved, meeting bi-monthly with geologists and ground stability experts to review updates and assess any potential changes in the area.
The results of our most recent quarterly monitoring survey indicate no significant movement in the sinkhole. As part of our ongoing commitment to public safety, the City will continue conducting scheduled surveys every three months to monitor the area closely and respond promptly to any changes.
Our primary goal is to ensure public safety while staying informed about the geological factors impacting the sinkhole. We work closely with leading professionals to ensure transparency and make informed decisions to address this situation responsibly.
Both the City of Daisetta and the Hull-Daisetta Independent School District are united in our commitment to prioritizing safety while working closely with experts to monitor and address these developments. We will provide updates as needed and appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
